When I was in Guadeloupe last year, I noticed a drastic improvement in the condition of my skin.
Generally, it was hard not to notice that the majority of locals had flawless skin.
Aside from the fact that it was too hot for makeup to stay on my face, the improvement in my skin made me feel confident enough to not want to wear any.
When I got home, a little self-consciousness came back.
I’m also not someone that would ever be able to go to work without anything on my face, so I tweaked my routine a little.
From then until now I’ve been focusing more on skincare, rather than covering everything up with layers of makeup.
So here’s the short list of products I use for my daily, natural makeup routine:
The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence
I’m starting to understand that SPF is important, and my skin doesn’t cope very well with SPF in makeup.
Smashbox are known for their amazing primers, and this one is no exception. This product allows me to skip a separate moisturising step if I’m tight on time and I absolutely love it.
Maybelline Age-Rewind Concealer
A go-to, affordable concealer for many people. It needs no introductions.
L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream
If I need a little extra coverage, I’ll tap this lightly around the areas that are still slightly red after concealer.
It’s green, and made to counter redness.
MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation
A very light layer of this to set, because it’s better than a setting powder and so non-drying it’s incredible.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
Because I don’t live on a Caribbean island; I live in grey, rainy London.
This bronzer* is amazing.
L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara
I can’t separate myself from this mascara. Even if I leave the house with nothing on my skin, I need to have this on my eyes.
Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
My holy grail to keep everything in place.
