Boyfriend Picks My Makeup
Hey!
Social distancing for me has meant zero makeup and living in PJs/workout clothes for the past 5 weeks or so.
I figured it was time to shake things up a little, so I tried the “boyfriend picks my makeup” tag. A potential full glam face to compliment my PJs.
I hate throwing out makeup, so I’ve been holding onto a lot of products I tried, didn’t like and couldn’t give away. This also means I keep things way past expiration. Apparently this challenge was the kick I needed to get rid of some stuff.

My boyfriend knows nothing about makeup. I’m pretty sure he couldn’t even tell concealer from mascara.
So I presented him with a photo of each category of makeup and asked him to pick 1 product from each photo, with justification if he had any.
Here’s what we were working with:
Primer
The NYX primer was actually brand new; I’d never tried it before.
The Smashbox Primerizer has been part of my daily makeup routine for the longest time. It’s super convenient when you can’t be bothered to moisturise beforehand.
I was excited to crack open the NYX primer though! I’ll do a post on it after a few wears.

Foundation
Funnily enough, also quite new. I switch between this and the L’Oreal CC Cream on a typical day.

Concealer
I despise this concealer with every fibre of my being.
I threw it out after using it.
The Maybelline Instant Eraser is what I usually grab for.

Setting Powder
This is what I usually use. I find a powder foundation works amazingly as a setting powder.

Bronzer
I used the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer as I currently don’t have any other.
Highlight
He picked a specific shade.
I think the palette is quite old and the powders have lost their oomph.. Woops.
I also threw this out after using it.

Eyeshadow
Uncommon opinion: this palette sucks.
It’s aesthetically pleasing, but doesn’t deliver.

Mascara
I’m so fussy with mascaras. I’m glued to the L’Oreal Lash Paradise Extatic and keep repurchasing it, because the result is so amazing.
I got the Dior one as part of a giftset and it’s also amazing, but I don’t think I’d pay the price for a new one when this finishes, knowing that the Lash Paradise exists at a significantly lower price.

Lipstick
I think I have a problem with buying nudes and mauves.
I’m not a huge fan of the Vivid Hot Lacquers.

Setting Spray
The Urban Decay All Nighter is my go to.
I’ve never actually used the Vitamin E Fast Mist as a setting spray before! This was interesting.

No brow products or blush in my collection at the moment.
His justifications:
“I have no idea what I chose and why, you’re welcome.”
The Result
The choices were very neutral, natural and worked well together. I think he did that on purpose.
This was close enough to my everyday natural makeup, so I approve.

Have you tried the boyfriend picks my makeup tag or any of these products?
